Roger Bartlett
(Composer) is a songwriter/guitarist/singer who fronts his own band, Hell’s Kitchen, based in New York City. Their CD City Streets (available at Amazon.com) is a high-quality fusion of Blues and Rock.
He also has the distinction of being the original guitarist of the Coral Reefer Band, originally performing with singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett as a duo (just two acoustic guitars and vocals), then helping assemble Buffett’s first Coral Reefer Band to make the jump from music halls to stadiums and arenas. Buffett recorded Bartlett’s song, “Dallas,” on his A-1-A album.
Other Bartlett originals have been recorded by a list of artists and he has earned gold and platinum records for his work as a guitar player. Now a busy composer in New York City, Roger’s sports themes should be familiar to basketball and racing fans. He wrote themes for the Charlotte Hornets, among others, and he also composed the musical score and theme song for Richard Petty – the Legend, a two-hour special about Petty’s career and final season released to the home video market.
Bartlett began writing for movie soundtracks with the classic cult hit, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and among his credits are contributions to Urban Cowboy, Rancho Deluxe, Drugstore Cowboy and Dog Run, which will be released January 26, 2001. Bartlett studied writing the Broadway musical with director Aaron Frankel at the New School in New York City and is currently working on a new musical.
